Thrifty Thursday - Special Edition

My family was supposed to arrive yesterday around noon. That didn't happen so I decided why not use a free day to hit one of my favorite thrift stores.

The weather was very pleasant, so I took the dog along. She doesn't do anything but sit in the car and wait for me, but she was excited not to be left home alone.

One of the first things found were these cute flocked deer in two colors. They were made in Hong Kong for TG&Y probably in the 60's.

There were several packages, but I left the busted ones behind. Still, I got four packages. Enough to share with friend Gwen.

My next stop was the bins where you really have to dig. I unearthed this great tree skirt that reminded me of an old sleeping bag I had growing up. It really adds a needed punch of color at the bottom of the tree.

I also found this dish towel in the bins.

But I think this was my most spectacular Christmas find of the day. Isn't she fantastic!?

After showing her off at Gwen's, she suggested that I might be able to use her as a tree topper. I had been thinking it was time for a new one.

And she looks just splendid atop my tree!

Since I had driven to the other side of town, I decided it would be foolish not to stop at the largest thrift store in the state.

That's where I found this little fellow. He's a salt (or pepper) shaker and he was all alone. So he had to come home with me.

So how much did I spend, you are wondering. At the first stop all Christmas was on sale for 70% off used items. Yes, 70% off. Let me break that down for you.

4 packages flocked deer ornaments = $0.72
tree skirt = $0.30
kitchen towel = $0.12
angel = $0.90
reindeer salt shaker = $0.25

That is a grand total of $2.29.

I spent more than that, but you'll just have to wait to see some of the other things I got.

I want to know where too. I wish I had more time to thrift. Visited the Salvation Army store on Green Springs recently. I love a good thrift store, but I found that location a little depressing.
